Peggy Faught, Executive Director, RN C

My name is Peggy Faught and I am the Executive Director at Delnor Glen Senior Living. I am also a registered nurse. I have worked at Delnor Glen for 8 years. Initially when I came to the Glen, it was as the Resident Care Director and my main objective was to develop the personal care team. During my first year here, I also developed the personal care program, lead the initiative on person centered care and assisted in obtaining our Assisted Living licensure. We were one of the first 2 facilities in the state to receive licensing. I worked in that capacity for a little over 5 years then was promoted to the role of Executive Director. In this role I am responsible for the operational performance and resident and family satisfaction in both the assisted living and the town home community.

I live in Geneva with my husband of 25 years Michael, my daughter Michelle and her daughter Mackenzie and sons Michael and Nicholas. We have lived here for 19 years. I have an associate degree in nursing from Waubonsee Community College. I also have an associate degree from College of DuPage in liberal arts. I hold a certificate in Rehabilitation, Gerontology, Assisted Living Nursing and I am a certified Marketing Professional. Currently I am working on a certification for leadership, management and operations.

I have been a nurse for 28 years and have a very diverse background. I worked at Loyola University Medical Center for 13 years where I had the vast majority of my hospital training. I worked in Med/Surg, an Intermediate Care Unit and with Hematology - Oncology patients. I worked for an allergist and did school nursing at the elementary level when my children were young. Working with seniors was my first job in a LTC facility. When my children were in school all day, I went back to work FT again with seniors. I became the Director of Nursing in 2 different facilities for a number of years prior to coming to Delnor Glen.

I enjoy being with my family and friends and have a special love of flowers and gardening. I love to read and spend time with my grandaughter Mackenzie.

Cathy

Cathy Duer, Director of Marketing & Sales

My name is Cathy Duer and I have been involved in the care of seniors since 1988. I have worked in a large CCRC, I have been a private care giver and I am currently the Director of Marketing and Sales for Delnor Glen.

Our senior population going back from the GI population to the Silent Generation holds a very special place in my heart. They are the ones who have shaped and fought for our country as we know it today. They have gone from horse and buggy days to the space age, gps, computers and Twitter.

My introduction to caring for seniors started with my own parents. Not ever thinking that my sister and I would ever be responsible for their care. When Dad became very ill with emphysema we were thrown into the mix of what do we do now. We went through the caregiver maze and had one in place for them until Dad’s death. When Mom fired the caregiver and fell down the stairs she came to live with me. At that time there was no such thing as Assisted Living. She lived with me 5 years, during which time we had caregivers and also participated in the local Elderday Program while I continued to work. When she became bedridden I converted half of my living room to a hospital room for her. I left my job of 8 years to care for her myself until her death. I then became a private care giver while finishing my degree at Judson College in Human Services. My first job after graduation was with Delnor Glen in the activity department. After working with our residents in that capacity I was promoted to Sales and Marketing and have been here 8 years. I have earned Certification as a Marketing Professional and also a certificate in Gerontology, I serve on the Board of Directors for Elderday Center and I am privileged to be a Eucharistic Minister to our local Skilled Care Community.

My job affords me the opportunity to work with families that are experiencing the same challenges I had with my family. I am of the philosophy of “Pay it forward”, to listen, help and guide families through their challenging time.

Lisa

Lisa Simpson, Director of Dining Services

I guess I would have to say that my love for Senior Citizens started with my grandparents Nick & Rosemunde Casper. I spent my summers growing up with them in Twin Lakes Wisconsin. My grandmother had a massive stroke in 1976 and was paralyzed completely on her left side for 13 years. This is when I learned about disabilities and the needs of senior citizens. I would help my grandfather with some of her care giving needs.

I started out working my first job at Sunnymere Retirement home as a server and kitchen helper for 2 years. Also worked for Community Contacts for 1 year as a homemaker for the elderly. I went on to work for the Aurora Township Dial-A-Ride as a dispatcher and became a CDL driver transporting Senior citizens and handicapped persons to Dr. appointments for 12 years. I left Dial-A-Ride and found Delnor Glen Senior Living where I started out as a Lead Dining Room Server and promoted to Director Of Dining Services where I can continue the passion and love I have for seniors. I am looking forward to celebrating my 10 years of service in March and everyday I am reminded of the love I had with my grandparents and know what a difference we make with yours.
